The Beginning
From a one-office humble beginnings to a $275 million, nationwide staffing provider, Surestaff wants to take this opportunity to thank all our customers, Associates, and staff for making the the past 25 years successful and memorable.
Founded in 1998 by Ray Morelli, Dave Mehr, and Doug Howard, Surestaff began it’s journey with a single office in the Chicago suburb Arlington Heights with first year revenues of $1 million. The Company since expanded to 21 offices making it one of the largest in the Chicagoland area while adding offices in Indianapolis, IN and Kenosha WI.
During this time, Surestaff has been recognized as one of the fastest growing and largest privately-held by Crain’s Chicago, and has been named as one of the largest staffing firms in North America by Staffing industry Analysts (SIA).
Growth
In October 2020, private-equity group Owner Resource Group (ORG) alongside industry-veteran and CEO, Tim Faber, made a majority investment in Surestaff. This investment has bolstered significant growth and development leading to $150 million of revenue in 2020 to a projected $275 million in 2023.
Since 2020, the Company has expanded its service coverage to include branches in the Dallas-Ft Worth metroplex, Atlanta, New Jersey, northern Indiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Between 2020 and late 2022, Surestaff expanded it’s service lines to include Direct Hire, Search, and Placement, and Workforce Solutions (Vendor on Premise/Onsite Staffing solutions). The Company currently operates 17 onsite client partnerships in eight states.
In June 2023, the Company made a majority investment in Millennium Search, a leading provider of industrial, clerical, and technology staffing services in Memphis. This acquisition helps support a service delivery footprint leading from the midwest to southwest – a leading corridor for logistics, 3PL, and manufacturing; and, further expands out service offering.
Today the Company’s growth continues with new branch openings, upgraded facilities, a new corporate office support company-wide shared services, and with several acquisition partners in various stages of talks.
Development
The Company has invested heavily in infrastructure, technology and recruiting tools making it one of the most advanced and diverse recruiting firms in the industry.
These technology tools are supported by a Corporate Recruiting Center than can support our branches and client needs nationwide. Recently an LMS (Learning Management System) has been launched with over 170 individual course modules and a conversion to the most advanced applicant tracking system (ATS) is nearing completion.
Additionally, we have invested heavily in people, culture and diversity. Culture programs have been launched, health and fitness (including yoga) are now part of the monthly routine, as well as procedures, policies and training to support new employees into the company. And, our benefit programs have been enhanced and expanded.
